Pain care starts with a conversation: where it hurts, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and what you have already tried. Dr. Fields then checks pulse, tongue, posture and the tender points along the area, and explains what he finds in plain language.

Treatment uses hair thin, sterile, single use needles at points near the problem area and at distant points chosen from the exam. Most people rest quietly while the needles are in.

Acupuncture can sit alongside the care you already have from your physician, orthopedist, chiropractor or physical therapist. Let us know about recent injuries, surgeries, blood thinners or pacemakers before your first visit.

When tight muscle knots are part of the picture, dry needling in Boca Raton may be added to your session. You can also read about how acupuncture works.

Injection point therapy, dry needling and trigger point injections

Muscle knots that keep pulling a joint out of comfort can be addressed in a few ways here. Options include acupuncture injection point therapy (also called acupuncture trigger point therapy), trigger point injections, and dry needling with a fine solid needle. Dr. Fields holds certifications in both trigger point injections and dry needling, and he chooses between them after examining the area.

A sports medicine and orthopedic eye on pain

Dr. Fields has trained in sports medicine acupuncture as well as orthopedic style acupuncture. In practice, that means range of motion checks, palpation of the muscles that guard an injured area, and treatment that follows the mechanics of the problem rather than only the spot that hurts.

Pain care that looks at the whole person

Lasting comfort often depends on more than the painful area. When inflammation, poor sleep or digestion seem to be part of the picture, Dr. Fields may combine acupuncture with Chinese herbs and a functional medicine review, matched to your history and goals rather than a fixed protocol.

Recovery options that can be added to your visit

Red light therapy and PEMF, short for pulsed electromagnetic field therapy, are non invasive extras that may help your tissues recover between sessions. For some people, PRP (platelet rich plasma) is another possibility; it is offered only after a medical evaluation confirms it is a reasonable fit. None of these come with a promised outcome.

Staying active in Boca Raton

Pain care for active lifestyles and sports recovery

Pickleball courts, bootcamp and HIIT classes, and reformer Pilates studios keep a lot of Boca Raton busy. When a shoulder, back, knee or hip starts to nag, or you simply want to recover well between sessions, acupuncture and dry needling can be part of the plan alongside your physician, physical therapist or coach. Dr. Fields asks what you play, how often you train and what you want to get back to, and plans around it.
